The desert defies to the titans in the hardest MTB race of the world

From April 30 to May 5, a new and spectacular edition of the Gaes Titán Desert by Garmin will take place, one of the most singular and hard races of MTB in the world that takes place every year in the Moroccan Desert. This is an edition 100% desert and will be developed entirely in the province of Errrachidia. The 460 titans registered will live the adventure of their life, with more than 600 km to pedal distributed in 6 stages.

Next Sunday the race will start in Maadid with many aspirants and a first stage of 105 km up to the feet of the majestic Erg Chebbi, an impressive cord of dunes that leaves one of the most beautiful pictures of the race.

In this 12th edition, many relevant MTB riders will be at the start line, among them, the last three winners, the Spanish Josep Betalú (2016), the Colombian Diego Tamayo (2015) and the Czech Ondrej Fojtik (2014), but also other aspirants as the Basque Julen Zubero, the Portuguese José Silva, José Luis Carrasco from Jerez, Moisés Dueñas from Salamanca or the Uruguayan Sixto Núñez.

Moreover, other popular people as the ex-Formula One driver Jaime Alguersuari, the broker Josef Ajram, the ex-football players Rafa Alkorta or Iñigo Larrainzar, the ex-basket player Iñaki de Miguel or the ex-water polo player and TV presenter Pedro García Aguado, as well as the you tuber Valentí Sanjuan will also be in the start line in Maadid.

In women, the two last winners, Anna Ramírez (2015) and Ramona Gabriel (2016) are the big favorites, though the Cuban Olga Echenique, winner of the Titán Tropic Cuba in 2015) will also fight for victory.

24 nationalities will be represented in this 12th edition of the race, the most international one since the first Titán in 2006, in a year that will remember this first adventure where 100 participants came to pedal in the desert.

12 editions later, the Gaes Titán Desert by Garmin has been consolidated as a singular event, where the Titan Spirit is reflected in the camps of the race. The participants must sleep every day in bereber “haimas”in the nomad camp. Bikers, staff, assistances and accompanists, they compose a mobile city of more than 800 persons.

All the adventure can be followed from April 30 to May 5 in the official channels of the race, with own TV program in Teledeporte and Esport3 and through more than 20 massdisplaced to the event.
